Quick Encouragement in These Uncertain Times

This year has already been a crazy one for our family. I have seen memes about how this year should already be close to being over, but we are really only three months in. Now times have changed even more for all of us. The uncertainty of the world is scary at the moment. Anxiety and fear producing for many people. This is already a mindset that I live in (one that I am constantly working on with God to deliver me from), but nonetheless it is still always in the back of my mind. I have really been challenged lately by my pastor's recent sermon, about creating "new grooves" or new defaults (click here to watch sermon). Instead of defaulting to my "norm," being fearful, but completely changing my mindset and going straight to God in prayer and meditating (thinking) on Bible verses. This sermon could not have come at a better time. Isn't God awesome like that?

With all the craziness going on in the world trying to change my mindset has been a challenge. It has definitely given me the opportunity to practice what God has been teaching me for a long time! So I am going to share a few Bible verses and songs that have helped me so far in the ever changing world right now. Hopefully they can bring you some peace and encouragement as well, while everyone is trying to figure out their new "normal."

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his work I put my hope.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

"Where is your faith?" he asked the disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Most of the time I feel like I have to be able to do something to control the things going on around me and to make everything make sense again, but these verses remind me that I don't really do anything. God is the one who is doing it all. It says to wait, to be still, and to boast about our weaknesses. All he does is speak and the world calms down and listens.

Another thing that helps get me through the days is worship music. I have a few that are on repeat constantly right now. (click the name below and it will take you to watch the music videos).

So as you go through this next week and the coming ones, be encouraged that the Lord is fighting for you. Be comforted in knowing he is strong, when we are weak. Take a breath, relax, and just be still in his peaceful presence. Know I am praying for everyone. Also if there is something specific please don't hesitate to reach out for anything!!
